Message from Chief Patrick Cummings

On behalf of the men and women of the Reedsburg Police Department, I welcome you to our official home on the World Wide Web.  The Reedsburg Police Department has been proudly protecting and serving the citizens of Reedsburg since 1868.  From modest beginnings, the police department has grown to 22 fulltime police officers.  They consist of the Chief of Police, Deputy Chief, Lieutenant, four Sergeants, Detective, Canine Handler, two School-Liaison Officers and ten patrol officers.

The police department also maintains its own dispatch center, which operates around-the-clock.  The dispatch center and reception area are staffed by seven civilian employees who handle calls for service, counter calls, and records requests.  A part-time civilian evidence technician assists in the management of the property room.

The Reedsburg Police Department takes pride in its relationship with the community and that is illustrated by our dedication to our motto of “Oath, Mission, Code”.  All officers have also voluntarily taken the “Oath of Honor” that re-affirms our original Oaths of Office and commitment to professional and ethically sound law enforcement.

After a lengthy and comprehensive evaluation, the Department was initially accredited by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group in 2015 and re-accredited in 2018, 2021 and 2024. This is a very high honor and a testament to the professionalism of the Police Department.

Thank you for stopping by and I encourage you to visit us at www.facebook.com and sign up for free community and emergency notifications at www.nixle.com where you can get notifications of Department activities and community events!

Sincerely,

Patrick Cummings
