Pay and Benefits

Reedsburg Police Officers are represented by the Wisconsin Professional Police Association. The City of Reedsburg negotiates pay and benefits with the WPPA.  


The 2020-2021 contract provides the following benefits:

10 paid holidays each year plus Veteran's Day Holiday for employees honorably discharged from the military


  • 5 days after 1 year
  • 10 days after 2 years
  • 13 days after 5 years
  • 15 days after 8 years
  • 16 days after 9 years
  • 1 additional day/year, to maximum
  • 23 days after 16 years (maximum)

Uniform Allowance
Officers receive $600/year for uniform upkeep. Reedsburg provides all initial equipment and uniform items, including duty belt and bulletproof vest.

Sick Leave
Employees accrue 1 day of sick leave for each month of employment to a maximum of 130 days. Employees with 10 or more years of service accrue 2 days/month.  Employees may use up to 50% of their sick leave to care for immediate family.

The City of Reedsburg carries the State of Wisconsin health insurance plan. 

Reedsburg uses an IRS Section 125 plan allowing employees to utilize pre-tax dollars for health expenses and dependent care.

Long-term disability insurance is provided, as is basic life insurance. Employees may elect higher levels of life insurance coverage by paying the premium.

The City of Reedsburg pays half and the employee pays half of all required contributions to the Wisconsin Retirement System.

Fitness Room
All city employees have access to a workout room located inside the police department, and police officers are assigned a locker. The fitness room is comprised of a mixture of Life Fitness select drive machines, Life Fitness cardio machines and Hampton free weights, including a full set of pro-style dumbbells 5-75 lbs.
