Winter Parking

Winter parking regulations will only be enforced during a Snowplow Event.  A Snowplow Event occurs when the Public Works Department determines that plowing, salting, or other winter road maintenance operations may be necessary due to winter conditions.  The City and Police Department may provide notice via social media or other means of a Snowplow Event.  However, the City encourages residents to adhere to alternate side parking regulations when snow or ice is anticipated in the forecast.  The purpose of this police is to make snow removal more efficient, while giving residents flexibility in parking when winter road maintenance is not required. The police will be issuing tickets for violations during Snowplow Events.

During a Snowplow Event, on even days vehicles park on the even side of the street.  On odd days vehicles park on the odd side of the street.

Even and odd days are determined by the calendar date in effect from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Here's a clearer way to explain it:

The key rule: Park based on the date during the enforcement window (2 AM - 6 AM), not when you actually park.

If you park before 2 AM, you're parking for the next calendar day's enforcement period.

Example:

  • You park at 10 PM on December 1st (odd date)
  • Park on the EVEN side of the street
  • Why? Because the enforcement window falls on December 2nd (2 AM - 6 AM), which is an even date

Think of it this way: When you park before 2 AM, ask yourself "What date will it be during the 2-6 AM window?" That's the date that determines your parking side
