Canoe the longest free-flowing river in the nation - the Baraboo River.
This flowage has been largely reclaimed and flows approximately 100 miles from its headwaters near Hillsboro to its confluence with the Wisconsin River south of Portage. The Reedsburg community has been actively removing logjams and installing new boat launches in an effort to make the river more accessible and enjoyable for river enthusiasts. From the boat launch located in downtown Reedsburg, one can travel down to Rock Springs along a portion of the river that
encompasses the most prominent topographic feature of Sauk County. The Baraboo Bluffs tower approximately
800 feet above the adjacent river valley making for an unforgettable adventure of the entire family.
Nature trails abound within the Reedsburg area. All hiking trails provide scenic vistas and unique opportunities to interact with nature. Reedsburg is conveniently located near the Dell Creek Wildlife Area which encompasses 2,125 acres of public hunting land located just 7 miles northeast of Reedsburg on Highway H. Within the City of Reedsburg the River Walk connects with the Roger Popple nature trail behind Webb Park providing a scenic and enjoyable stroll along the Baraboo River. Public lands managed by the Department of Natural Resources provide many opportunities and public spaces to hunt turkey, whitetail deer and other game species in the Reedsburg area.
